If elected, I pledge to Ward 1 to keep folks well-informed about what’s happening in City government, to listen to your thoughts and concerns, and be clear about where I stand on the issues.
I will hold regular office hours, and post reports on Council plans and votes on my website and neighborhood listservs. I will ask to hear what is most important to you, listen to your opinions and concerns, and tell you where I stand and why.
Those are the things you can expect if I am on the City Council.
My experience
I have been active in Takoma Park’s civic affairs for many years. My efforts include:
In addition, I recently chaired a Community Town Hall on Affordable Housing sponsored by Community Vision for Takoma, with County Executive Marc Elrich as our special guest, to explore the challenges we face in preserving Takoma Park’s rent stabilization program under pressure from development and zoning changes, as well as the arrival of the Purple Line.
If you want to know more about my professional background, see my Council Fire website and LinkedIn profile.
One thing I’ve learned from volunteering in Takoma Park is how important it is to talk with each other. Discussing issues openly and fashioning solutions together is the only way to go. In the last few years, Takoma Park has not escaped the strains on neighborliness that the pandemic, political divisiveness, and local development controversies have caused. Fortunately, Ward One has many engaged and informed residents and excellent places for us to gather, have a slice of pizza or a beer, lay the facts on the table, and take it from there!
See you at the polls!

As Ward 1 Council Member I would take my duties as Ward 1 Pizza Monitor very seriously. As you can see, I am practicing already!
