We need Jessica’s voice and experience on the City Council to ensure Takoma Park remains a safe, welcoming, and affordable home for everyone in our diverse community. – Jennifer Martin, Maple Avenue
A strong City Council is necessary to meet the needs of residents in an increasingly complicated world. As a longtime resident, environmental lawyer, and longtime civic and community volunteer, that’s what Jessica will do for the council — make it stronger. She is a great communicator; she is open to the opinions of all residents and can be counted on to take them into account. She thoroughly understands the challenges that our community faces in the areas of budget, housing, street safety, public transportation and issues related to climate change – loss of tree canopy, stormwater and conservation of energy – and equity for all. I am confident that Jessica will do her best for our community and has the skills necessary to do so. – Barbara Whitney, Crescent Place
Although I don’t live in Ward 1, I am very pleased that Jessica Landman has decided to run. She is super-smart and talented and has a long record of progressive action. She is an environmental lawyer specializing in clean water (such as stormwater and other permitting requirements) and has vast experience in policy issues at local, national and international levels. She has been active locally including Chairing the former Complete Safe Streets Committee, representing TP community on the Montgomery County Vision Zero Equity Task Force, seeking to improve traffic safety outcomes in areas of the county with lower incomes and higher percentages of minority residents and Serving on the MD DOT’s Takoma Junction Vision Study Stakeholder Advisory Group. I have nothing against incumbent Shana Fulcher who has worked very hard in her one term on the Council but Ward 1 should not miss an opportunity to be represented by Jessica Landman. – David Blockstein, Project Co-Director, Solve Climate by 2030
Jessica has the background, values, and skills to make a terrific Councilmember. She is involved with issues important to our diverse community, like an affordable housing forum that she facilitated that drew 90 people, with Mo Co Executive Marc Elrich as speaker. Her environmental law background would bring expertise on climate change and stormwater to the Council. I trust her to show sound judgment and work collaboratively -- and to keep in regular contact with the Ward I residents -Susan Schreiber, Willow Avenue
I'm for Jessica because she studies and thinks carefully about the details of policy that can have real and lasting effects on the lives of Takoma Parkers. She is an excellent communicator, who will respond to the questions and needs of constituents. Her civic engagement over many years has already shown how much she cares about our special city. Please join me in voting for Jessica!

-Sharon Levy, former Ward One Council Member and 50-year Takoma Park
resident.
As Jessica’s husband for almost 40 years, I can say without reservation that Jessica is the council member Ward 1 needs right now. She is whip smart and deeply experienced; she is knowledgeable about both the details and the broad policy sweep of every issue to which she commits; she is a tough and relentless advocate, but is also the consummate coalition and consensus builder, having spent decades bringing together legislators, regulators, business, consumers and various non-profits to achieve win-win outcomes.
Jessica is dedicated to the prosperity and well-being of Takoma Park, serving over many years on numerous State and Local committees, advisory groups and civic associations focused on pedestrian safety, affordable housing, and equity and inclusion.
As a Councilmember, Jessica will be clear about her reasoning and positions on issues and will communicate regularly and proactively with Ward 1 residents.
For these reasons and more, I urge you to Vote for Jessica! - Dan Mullaney, treasurer, husband of Jessica, Park Avenue
As a friend, neighbor, and fellow volunteer, I rely on Jessica’s thoughtful approach to issues, her willingness to take a second and third look in order to understand the impact of policies, her commitment to serving others. Jessica cares about everyone in Takoma Park and works hard to make our City a better place. We have seen her apply her wisdom and strong legal and policy skills to many complex city issues, including affordable housing, fair and equitable allocation of ARPA funds, and wise use of public spaces.
